Network Marketing/MLM – Fantastic or Fraud?
Be your own boss! Set your own schedule. Retire Early!
Sound good?
Multi-level Marketing has been praised for offering financial freedom
yet, in some quarters, the MLM industry is still portayed as a scam.
As with any business venture, it’s buyer beware - do your homework
first. There's good and bad in every business and MLM is no different.
Both sides agree that it takes work. If anyone tries to tell you that
it’s easy money or get-rich-quick, there’s no such thing (legitimately)
and, if you're promised the earth for little effort, chances are it is
indeed a scam!
You will most likely need to make an initial investment. Some require
more than others and range from FREE to thousands, averaging at just a
few hundred dollars (or pounds).
If I had to start over again, I'd do MLM - Donald Trump
When Donald Trump was asked on the Tonight Show, "if you had to start
all over again, what would you do?" - his answer...MLM.
Robert Kiyosaki, best-selling author of the Rich
Dad Poor Dad and creator of the Cashflow
board Game, is another who advocates the benefits of joining a network
marketing MLM business. He recommends starting a business in MLM because,
more than the potential wealth that can be created, network marketing
companies offer some of the best training and personal development programmes
to prepare you for the business world.
Others who speak less highly say, “you only make money when you
have lots of people under you and spend a lot to stay in each month. I
was required to spend more than I needed or could afford each month, so
I had to quit." “Unfortunately too many try to convince you
that it is so easy. If it were so easy, everyone would be doing it.
The fact is that the MLM business model works and is more fair than any
traditional corporate structure with regard to opportunity and potential.
Perhaps the problem is that network marketing (MLM) attracts all kinds
of people to start a business who would never have considered starting
a business until they were approached by somebody (a network marketer).
Some are in desperate situations and, as a result, many network marketers
end up:
- over-selling the MLM opportunity
- inappropriately discussing business in social situations
- coming across as desperate
- over-focused on new recruits and neglecting existing customers as a
result
- being deceptive when talking about their business
Randy Gage, a highly successful network marketer, said "Network Marketing
is right for everyone, but NOT everyone is right for network marketing."
The bottom line is that you must have a passion and drive to make your
business work, regardless if it is MLM or traditional business. If money
is your only motivation, however, it will most likely fail!
You need to believe in your product or service and, most importantly,
you need to have written, measurable goals... or you can simply plan on
failing.
Do your due diligence when researching various MLM opportunities and know
what you want out of life.
